Right now, in Ontario, children and youth with mental health problems often DO NOT have access to adequate treatment and services appropriate to their age and disability. Close to 9,500 Ontarians signed on to our petition for change, indicating wide public support for the following improvements to Ontario's child and youth mental health system.

  • An implementation and resource plan to accompany the Ministry of Children and Youth Services Policy Framework, A Shared Responsibility http://www.children.gov.on.ca/mcys/english/resources/publications/needs-shared.asp
  • The involvement of other relevant ministries including Health and Long Term Care, Education, as well as Community and Social Services, and,
  • The sustained funding of core services.

Recently representatives of the various partners involved with the petition met with the Ontario Minister of Children and Youth Services, Deb Matthews, to hand over the petition signatures.
